City of Lawndale Pirate Day Youth Parade

The City of Lawndale will be holding its Lawndale Community Bike Ride and Open Street Event, Presented by Metro, and annual Lawndale "Pirate Day" Youth Day Parade on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The Community Bike Ride and Open Street Event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 10:00 a.m. The parade will begin marching its way through the heart of Lawndale beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Community Bike Ride and Open Street event and the Youth Day Parade events will both use the following route beginning at the intersection of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Prairie Ave; west on Manhattan Beach Blvd; north on Hawthorne Blvd; east on Marine Ave; and south on Prairie Ave.

Please be aware that there will be several street closures on the day of the event. The City will begin closing affected streets and boulevards at approximately 4:30 a.m. All designated streets will be closed no later than 7:00 a.m. The parade is expected to conclude no later than 12:30 p.m. and affected streets will be re-opened as soon as possible thereafter.

For those that need to enter or exit the area within Manhattan Beach Blvd, Hawthorne Blvd, Marine Ave and Prairie Ave, Freeman Ave at Manhattan Beach Blvd and Marine Ave are designated as the exit and entry points into and out of the area. Please note that there will likely be intermittent delays entering and exiting at these points based upon the location of the events at that particular time. Additionally, the east/northbound side of Hawthorne Blvd will be closed; however, there will be two-way traffic on the west side of Hawthorne Blvd. During the time in which the street closures are in effect on Hawthorne Blvd, parking will be available in the center median for businesses whose availability of parking will be affected.
